How to lock Fn if you have one on your keyboard

How to lock Fn if you have one on your keyboard

You will notice a small padlock icon on the Esc key if that is the case for your keyboard. To lock the Fn key, simply press the Fn key and the Esc key together. Once the lock icon lights up, the Fn key has been successfully locked. To unlock, you can press both keys together again.

When it is locked, you don't have to press Fn together to get F5 or something else like that. Enjoy!

Great tip: Add pdf annotations for free with MS Edge browser

 You could add and save annotations on pdf files for free with the MS Edge browser. It is great as well when you need to do online teaching or workshops.

Social media can be used to predict social activity?! [Twitter]

This kind of research must be interesting! However, the conclusion may not so accurate because many people in some areas cannot access these media. Hence at the current stage of development, the first trial is going to be confined to Latin America. Sample is a problem!
In this kind of research, some institutes who control the knots to monitor the internet flow will have the definite advantage. Right now, I think the winner will be USA as they have the most IP control server (I do not know much about IT science, hope no problem here for understanding).

The Visual Impact of Gossip

Nature, USA(33489, 33.4890 %), Australia(1969, 1.9690 %), PR China(471, 0.4710 %);
Science, USA(45402, 45.4020 %), Australia(1069, 1.0690 %), PR China(497, 0.4970 %);

eBay seller faces fines after bidding on own items to raise prices
MARTIN WAINWRIGHT
April 22, 2010
A British seller on eBay who drove up prices for his own goods by secretly bidding for them faces fines of up to £50,000 ($83,000).
Paul Barrett also used a second account on the internet auction site to post positive feedback. The company said the case, the first prosecution of its kind in Britain, was a clear warning against the practice of ''shill bidding'' to bump up prices.

Powerpoint

Human behaviour: Walking in circles

Summary
Common belief has it that people who get lost in unfamiliar terrain often end up walking in circles. Although uncorroborated by empirical data, this belief has widely permeated popular culture. Here, we tested the ability of humans to walk on a straight course through unfamiliar terrain in two different environments: a large forest area and the Sahara desert. Walking trajectories of several hours were captured via global positioning system, showing that participants repeatedly walked in circles when they could not see the sun. Conversely, when the sun was visible, participants sometimes veered from a straight course but did not walk in circles. We tested various explanations for this walking behavior by assessing the ability of people to maintain a fixed course while blindfolded. Under these conditions, participants walked in often surprisingly small circles (diameter < 20 m), though rarely in a systematic direction. These results rule out a general explanation in terms of biomechanical asymmetries or other general biases [1,2,3,4,5,6]. Instead, theysuggest that veering from a straight course is the result of accumulating noise in the sensorimotor system, which, without an external directional reference to recalibrate the subjective straight ahead, may cause people to walk in circles.
